New Zealand Mosaic Art
After the recent National Mosaic Exhibition held at the Bottle Greek Gallery in Pataka a group of enthusiastic mosaic artists got together to talk about setting up a New Zealand Mosaic Association. During the initial meeting held in Auckland, and attended by a wonderful group of people, it was decided to form: "New Zealand Mosaic Art" as a platform to promote mosaic art and to hold regular exhibitions. The logo is being finalised, bank account organised, and a further meeting is being held to move the association forward. I am very excited about being a part of this group as we promote mosaic art and give the many talented artists in New Zealand a place to exhibit their work.
Since I wrote the above we have had our second meeting on Saturday 7th November in Auckland .I was well attended and we discussed venues for the exhibition, funding, our Facebook Page and our Web Page. If you would like to join our FB page for a discussion on all things mosaic then go to: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1662862487331811/ - here you can post questions, pictures of your work, share tips and techniques. It would be great if you could join in the fun so mosaics in New Zealand can gain a greater profile.

Suzi Edwards
Suzi Edwards is a renowned mosaic artist from Orlando, Florida and delights in creating large scale public works. She has held many solo exhibitions and has been "Artist in Residence" many times.
Suzi says "I love to see how art can enhance an environment: create interest, encourage conversation, elicit a brief pause from present moment reality.
The blending of glass mosaics and ceramic elements creates a sculptural, dimensional and highly tactile surface. Mosaics have endured for centuries, From the earliest know mosaic, the 4500 year old "Standard of Ur" found in Bagdad, to the modern renaissance of mosaics and architectural ceramics that have flourished in public settings in the last few decades, these enduring artworks delight the viewer and create a visual history in perpetuity”.
