Mosaic Tools
It is easy to get started with a project with just a few mosaic tools. For instance if using ceramic tiles then the only tool you need is a hammer to smash the tiles.
You will find a list of the basic tools used in mosaic on the Getting Started page.
However if you want to go a bit further you will need the correct tools to create more detailed pieces of work.

Cutting Ceramic Tiles
The flat tipped Mosaic Nippers are used for shaping ceramics and china.
If you only invest in one tool this should be it. This is the tool I use most often.

Use the table top tile cutter for cutting larger tiles
into smaller squares, rectangles etc.

Cutting Glass Tiles
Use the two-wheeled mosaic glass cutters for nipping glass tiles.
Even if you plan to glue your tiles in the shape they're already in, there's always that little space at the end of a row, or a corner, or wherever, that you need a little different shape to fill in a space.

Use the oil filled glass scorer to cut glass into shapes. There are many types on the market so it is probably best to visit a stained glass shop to experiment with various styles.

Use the table top glass cutter for cutting strips of glass. This is an excellent tool for cutting precise strips of glass.

Use the running pliers for breaking the glass along the score line.
All of the above tools can be purchased at any Home Improvement store such as Mitre 10 and Bunnings or at a Stained Glass shop. For tile nippers and glass wheeled tile cutters click here
