Con Kiernan
Con is a New Zealand artist who came to mosaic art after a career in education.

"It's taken me a long time to become a mosaic artist. I first worked in education,...I took an 8 month sabbatical in the US in 1983 to pursue a long held desire to "do art.  In 2001, I started this mosaic artform part-time with the development of art pieces.  The fulltime plunge began in January 2003."

Con has exhibited widely including at Compedium's "Fit for A Queen" exhibition opened by the British Ambassador and was placed second in the 2012 New Zealand Contemporary Mosaic Art competition.

Laurie Gilson
In Laurie Gilson’s “Unicorn Mosaic,” ceramic flowers of different type were used to create a “Garden of Eden” setting that is just right for the mythical beast.  The blue jay and lily pad plates were used for the foliage of the trees.

"Wellington Treasures"
Jane Santos
Jane has been a mosaic artist for the past 16 years.  When she moved to New Zealand from England she was determined to pursue mosaics as a full time occupation.  She has since established a workshop and gallery at her home and exhibits at various art exhibitions around New Zealand.

Jane works with a variety of tiles; vitreous and plain glass, porcelain, glazed and unglazed ceramics and sources them from all over the world. She is a member of the British Association for Modern Mosaics and the Mosaic Artists of Australia.

I particularly love her series of old Wellington homes.

Elaine Goodwin
Elaine is a British author and mosaic artist.  She has exhibited extensively, written several works on mosaics and design (Mosaic Today: Using New and Recycled Materials in Contemporary Mosaic; Encyclopedia of Mosaics: Techniques, Materials and Designs; The Human Form in Mosaics)  and was the founding president of the British Association of Modern Mosaics (BAMM).

The majority of Goodwin's mosaics are abstract pieces, using a combination of light reflecting materials such as Venetian gold, smalti and Carrara marble.  Goodwin has stated that her art is "about light... For all who look, at each and every moment, light is held, captured, and let go".

She was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Exeter in 2010 for her outstanding contribution to world art.

Sonia King
Sonia King is a mosaic artist, author and educator with studios in Dallas, Texas and San Francisco, California. She creates one-of-a-kind, fine art mosaics for gallery, architectural and residential settings.

Sonia’s mosaic, Depthfinder, is the first by an American to enter the permanent collection of contemporary mosaic art at the Museo d’Arte della Città di Ravenna, Italy. She was awarded special recognition in the 2010 International Prize for Mosaic Art and Architecture in Italy and also won two Spectrum Awards for mosaic walls at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.
